I woke up one morning not too long ago with terrible, terrible back spasms. (The kind that kept me from standing up completely straight for two days...) Muscle relaxers helped lessen the pain and spasms over the course of a few days. Since the problem wasn't completely resolved, I was concerned about being able to keep my plans to drive 3 1/2 hours to visit my family. That's when I had an a-ha moment & remembered Thermacare! I couldn't find these locally so I ordered from Amazon. They arrived in time for my trip. I can't tell you how much they helped. I wore these off & on for a couple of days. They really helped loosen my muscles & I ended up not needing any muscle relaxers while I was visiting my family. Since there were a total of six wraps in my order, I've got extras on hand for the next time this happens. For what it's worth, I'd give these two thumbs up!

I have used this product for 2 years. I have had back surgery and had low back pain for 25 years. I have found this product reduces my pain level from a pain level 7 to a pain level 3. I do not use them every day but perhaps 3 days a week as if I wear them every day they tend to lose their effectiveness. I have had every type of injection known to man for my back pain. None worked. I do use a medication which is not addictive but find it only helps a little. No side effect using this product if you keep your shorts between the heat pad and the skin. Heats all day long. Around 8-9 hours. Allows me to work all day with only moderate pain. When I do not use the heat pad I use a TENS unit which provides about the same level of pain reduction. The only downside is the cost. If you have low back pain you owe it to yourself to at least try these for about a week. Good luck.
Perfect for the bad back February 15, 2010

These units are great for my bad back and they last a very long time, well over 8 hours and sometimes in excess of 12 hours. I use them when skiing, shoveling and anytime I have extra back pain. At $4 each and on Prime, these are pretty close to perfect.

I use these to keep my back loose overnight (even though it says not too), but it is so much better than a heating pad because it moves with you. I have bought a package before that didn't work. But that was one package out of many other packages I have bought. When they work, they work great! If you rest on your back with it on, the heat gets much more intense. If you are just walking around it is just slightly warm, but just enought to keep your back loose. The heat definitely gets stronger when pressure is applied, like if you are resting in bed.
