 NO AUTO SHUT-OFF July 18, 2010

It took me forever to find this original style heat pad with NO AUTO SHUT OFF. Been using a heat pad for over 20 years (for back problems) and have tried every make, model and style and this Sunbeam is the best. I was extremely upset when I could no longer find a heat pad without that stupid auto shut-off feature. It probably took me over a year to finally find this one on Amazon although I purchase books here all the time, I never thought to check for a heat pad. I bought 2 pads because I'm afraid that I won't be able to find this pad in the future. I love the King Size Pad so much that I had thick (terry towel) covers made to replace the thin blue cover that it is sold with. THANKS for offering this product, it is my favorite "find" of the year!

Great quality, I have had it for 5 years now and it is still alive and kicking. The only thing I don't care for about it is that it is not particularily hot enough with the protective pad on it, I usually take it off even though it says not to. I have yet to be burned for taking it off like it says you will.

Okay, this sounds crazy. I selected this heating pad for an unusual use. I wanted to make yogurt, and I didn't want to buy a only-does-one-thing, takes-up-valuable-real estate, yogurt maker.
I saw Alton Brown make yogurt using a heating pad, and I loved the idea that this appliance can be used to make yogurt, help rise bread-dough, help with muscle aches, preheat a chilly bed, or warm seedlings when it is too cold to put them outside. Now that's what I call VERSATILE!
This heating pad is great because it is larger than the standard, has NO AUTO-OFF (which is an essential point for my use), has a washable cover, long cord, and is easy to operate. I haven't had it a long time, so I cannot speak to its longevity.
So far, I have raised bread dough and made yogurt with this heating pad. I couldn't be happier with it. Both uses turned out picture-perfect. For yogurt I used the "medium" setting around a covered glass pitcher, with a down comforter encircling both of those. It kept the mixture right at 106F. (I checked the temp of the heating pad alone, and it does get very toasty.) Next time, I will see how it works inside a zippered cooler with the heating pad and covered glass pitcher. My bread dough also raised nice and high. (I've also tried it in an oiled slow cooker, and that works too.)
Love this heating pad. Glad to have a multipurpose item in the house. It's clearly no one-hit-wonder. How will you use yours?

A good night sleep is important to me. I had the problem of having frequent foot or leg cramps after an active day. Not wanting to constantly use creams or meds to prevent it, I decided to order the Sunbeam Health at Home King Size Moist/Dry Heating Pad from Amazon. I place it on the top of the covers, set on low and it is the answer to my problem. I would not want to be without it. I decided that it might fry eggs on high but the low setting is perfect. I have not experienced a single cramp since the first night of use.
