4 out of 5 stars Great Heating Pad   March 3, 2010
    H. D. Johnson (Pennsylvania)
Contrary to other reviews I've read, this Pad is the best I've ever owned! Others claim it doesn't get hot enough....mine does. The extra long cord is a first even though it is stiff and hard to control. Would recommend this pad to everyone.

1 out of 5 stars Sunbeam malfunctions many times   February 28, 2010
    P. Cherry (Colorado Springs, CO USA)

I have had to purchase 4 of these heating pads in the last year and a half or so, I will not purchase another. Some sort of a problem develops with the controller. When I try to turn it on, the light just blinks and the pad does not heat up.
In October 2009 I purchased the fourth one. I was very careful to keep my receipt this time. Today it has quit working. After trying to work with Sunbeam to replace the third unit last October I decided to purchase the fourth. Other things were going on and I did not have the tim to try to deal with it. I should not have to take a 6 month old heating pad in for service. Does this seem absurd to anybody else? Well, there obviously is something defective with these heating pads so I will not purchase another one. Hopefully, I can get the two that I still have repaired or something. Otherwise they will end up in the trash like the first two did.

Sunbeam had me go through a reset procedure with the third that did not affect the operation of the pad. They also asked if I had used an extension cord or power strip with it. I had and told them so. Evidently using an extension cord with these can cause damage to the unit.

I am on my way to the store now, and definitely will not purchase another Sunbeam!!

4 out of 5 stars Decent heating pad, not perfect   February 24, 2010
    pradiata (Pacific Grove, CA USA)
We have three of these heating pads. We use them to keep our family members warm while eating dinner or snuggling on the sofa during winter months without having to crank up the heat (and heating bill.)

    Pros:
    * The pad itself is soft, flexible, comfortable.
    * The heating element does not shift around inside the cover like some other heating pads we've purchased.
    * Gets plenty warm.
    * Has an optional timer setting.
    * Is apparently okay for wet heat and can be unplugged and thrown in the washing machine, although we haven't tried either of those options (yet).

    Cons:
    * Buttons don't work perfectly on one of the three pads: have to be pushed just the right way. (We're too lazy to bother trying to return it for replacement, so no comments about customer service to post.)
    * The only timer shut-off setting is for 2 hours. Other pads we've purchased (the kind that annoyingly shift around inside their covers) have options for 30-60-90-120 minutes until shut-off, which is better if you might fall asleep using it.

Note: the cold pack that comes with it is the single use kind, not a reuseable one. FYI.

3 out of 5 stars It Works   February 10, 2010

It was a gift. The person likes it and has used it three times with great success. What more might be said?

5 out of 5 stars I Love this Heating Pad!   February 10, 2010
    W. Cooper (San Francisco Bay Area)
I use this heating pad everyday because of severe arthritis and I wouldn't dream of buying a different one! This feels so much safer ~ no hotspots, hard wires, or twisted cord. It's soft AND washable; just unplug the soft pad and toss it in the washing machine. Similar ones are just not the same ~ buy the genuine Sunbeam (& this particular model).

My only complaint is the cord is too long (for me, anyway) cord. I think it's nine or ten feet. I'd be happy with 4 feet!

    Love, love, love it!!!
