Product Description The Theratherm Digital Moist Heating Pad, as opposed to dry forms of heat, draws moisture directly from the air. There is no water to add, no water to boil, no dripping packs and no towels to prepare. Moisture is drawn from the humidity in the air and retained in a specially designed 100% cotton cover. When the hot pack is turned on, the retained moisture is rapidly heated by high-grade ceramics, forcing the moisture out of the flannel cover onto the patient's skin, allowing deeper penetration of heat into the bodys tissue. The moisture acts only as a means to transmit heat more deeply into the tissue, so only a small amount is needed. TheraTherm, unlike all competitive products on the market, has a digital hand control allowing the operator to program the following parameters: treatment temperature, treatment time and on/off. Competitive units, including Thermophore, require the operator to make continual contact with a single-loaded switch to generate and maintain heat from the pad. This is positioned as a safety feature. TheraTherm has a conventional on/off control switch.

Top-of-the-line at the best price June 24, 2010 Photo Phanatic (Arizona) This is the identical product as my Physical Therapy group uses. Amazon easily had the best price when I shopped online. It's big and comfortable and warm and well made and has a great electronic control for temp. and time and a long enough cord to be easily used. Mmmmmm glorious warmth!
You have back/neck pain? THIS WILL HELP May 11, 2010 Grace Olson (Mckinney TX) Im in the medical field, I work in the radiology dept and I see neck and back pain stricken patients all day. I refuse to have surgery and I need all the help I can get with my neck and back pain. This heating pad is used daily and really helps me with the aches and pains. I have one for work and one for home.
It does have a variable temp that cycles for a one hour period. Then it shuts off automatically. You decide the max temp and max time , then it does the up and down of variable heat in the range you have chosen. It is a moist heat that does get very hot if u lay directly on it. For example, I only use a 130 degree heat when i lay it under my back when i lay in bed because otherwise it gets too hot. However, if I use it for my neck while sitting up on the sofa, I use a max temp of 166 degrees.
Not as hot as a thermaphore May 10, 2010 Jennifer Tant (Columbus, GA United States) I have a rectangular Thermophore which I like very much, but it's hard to get it around the neck and shoulder. This heating pad with the neck cut out is a great idea and works pretty well. It doesn't get as hot as the Thermaphore. The max temperature is 166*. It's usually warm enough. I liked it enough to keep it.
This is the last one I'll ever buy! March 30, 2010 LemonLover This heating pad is the best purchase I have ever made. It stays where you put it. It's weighted, substantial and the quality is unsurpassed. You can adjust the heat to whatever temperature works for you and lock it into place for every future use. It can't accidentally be changed. It delivers moist heat without adding any moisture to it at all. You can use the velcrose fastener in verticle positions if need be, but for my neck, upper back and shoulder problem there is no need to use the fastener at all.
AAAaaaaahhhhh.... March 28, 2010 L. Ching (SF, CA United States) This is exactly what I was looking for! It was hard finding a moist heating pad specifically for the shoulder/lower neck area. The only thing I would change or modify later is to have a greater range of adjustment on the velcro closure.
